How to Love What You Do, by Taylor Reese

Happy almost weekend, everyone!

Today I am featuring a very special person on here – Taylor Reese ♥

Tay and I have a long history and we have been friends for many years, we were 100% two peas in a pod when were getting along, haha! & we basically ruled the OHS! Totally kidding, but we definitely had a blast together in high school and even out of high school. My Tay is always up for having a great time, so you can imagine the memories we share together.

If you know Tay, you know she has a bigger attitude than anyone else in the group. She’s also so bossy, but that’s why we love her so much. She is SO unapologetically herself. Also, Tay knows what she wants when she wants it and nothing can stop her, she’s like a little, adorable/beautiful machine! & she is one of the most driven individuals I know, who has a really big heart.

And most of all, she’s a badass 22 year old, who’s already SO successful in her career. I knew she would be the perfect person to feature on here when it comes to loving what you do for a career because she is so good at what she does!

Everyone, meet Tay:

Tell us some things about yourself, we all want to know about you and your successful life!

I’m successful in life because I’m passionate about my career. I wake up every day loving the fact that I get to go to work and see my clients.

What is it exactly that you do for a living?
I make people beautiful for a living by doing their hair, and it is the most amazing job. I love what I do!

What was the main reason that made you want to get into doing hair?
I wanted to do hair ever since I could remember. I also never had a backup plan, so I’m glad that it all worked out like it was supposed to.

What is it that you love most about your job?
I love being able to brighten someone’s day by making them feel better about themselves. It truly makes my heart happy.

You’re only 22 and already SO successful, especially for your age. You have a growing client base, a popular Instagram page, and landed a full-time position right out of Aveda at a wonderful salon! What was your biggest driver for that success?
I am driven by the unconditional love and support I get from my family and friends. Hearing that positive feedback from the people you surround yourself with is such an amazing feeling to experience.

Do you have any tips for people to figure out their passion at a young age and to follow that passion?
My advice for people would be to follow your dreams, no matter what anyone says about them!

Three Badass Boss Babes

Happy Memorial Weekend!

I hope everyone is enjoying themselves. The weather is gorgeous in Denver, finally! I just got back from the pool and figured it was time to do a blog post.

I seem to find a lot of my inspiration from YouTubers/Influencers/Bloggers. They are creative, successful, and badass boss babes!

So I wanted to share with you the channels & blogs I love because they provide great content and value.

Δ Carli Bybel

Carli is a YouTuber and blogger! I ran across her Instagram a few years ago and haven’t looked back since. She has the fiercest style out of anyone I’ve seen, she’s spectacular at doing her makeup, she’s vegan, she has four adorable cats, and her style is SO on point. & I mean her style all around, so her fashion sense, the car she drives, the way her home is decorated, you know the works! Not only is Carli absolutely killing it with her looks, she’s also very kindhearted and generous. She just recently visited Cambodia to set up a scholarship program so the youth could attend college. Another thing I’ve noticed about Carli is that she’s very humble, which I find to be such a great trait for someone with her kind of fame/following.

Δ Kalyn Nicholson

https://www.youtube.com/user/Kalynxo13

Kalyn is a YouTuber! She has this vibe that I just LOVE. Her wardrobe, her adorably decorated apartment, the aesthetic of her Instagram account, how she edits her YouTube videos, etc are all things that I’m obsessed with. She just gets it, you know? She’s got her style down like a damn professional and she rocks the shit out of it. She also has the best life tips, whether you’re going through change, how to survive a bad day, or how to be more positive. She is SO relatable and I think that’s a huge reason why I adore her and her channel so much. She’s another one of those who hasn’t let the fame get to her head, which is obviously something I really admire about people.

Δ Lauryn Evarts

https://www.youtube.com/user/MissSkinnyShow

https://www.theskinnyconfidential.com

Lauryn is a blogger! But she also has a YouTube channel, a podcast with her husband, a book, and a body guide. You can tell she’s the ultimate badass boss babe. She is actually one of the reasons I got into blogging. I came across her blog about four years and I was instantly hooked. She’s like no other blogger I’ve ever come across. She talks about topics that no one wants to talk about, like boob jobs, face shaving, addiction, death, botox, UTIs, and the list seriously goes on. Lauryn wants to provide valuable and REAL content for her readers. She likes to bring her readers/followers behind the scenes so they can see what goes on in her everyday life & they can see that she’s a real person, who deals with real life things, & she works her ass off.

Her YouTube channel covers some topics that she doesn’t discuss on her blog and it also goes more in depth with certain topics she does discuss on her blog. The podcast she has with her husband is educational, funny, filled with amazing tips on how to succeed in life, and everything in-between. Lauryn’s book provides great life tips that have to do with beauty, wellness, & balance. It’s a mini lifestyle guide that you can read in less than a day. I did a post on her book a while back, you can find it here. Finally, her body guide covers work outs, healthy & quick recipes, and meals. I think she’s come so far with her blog, and she talks about how the success of her blog definitely didn’t happen overnight. She had to work at it every single and she still has to do that. Her content she provides to her readers is so helpful & so inspiring! Most of all, she’s real, she’s authentic, and she absolutely kills it in the blogging world.

There you have it, three people who have made an impact on my life through a computer screen!

Check them all out & let me know if you love them as much as I do.

How to Be a Good Person, by Mati Oeltjenbruns

Happy Wednesday!

Currently recuperating from the 14 hour drive my mom and I did yesterday. We’ve been in Texas since last Thursday and got back last night. I leave to go back to Denver tonight. I’ll do a recap of my Texas vacation soon!

You might have remembered this post I did some time ago. The post was SO successful so I wanted to feature my wonderful bestie on my blog again. She’s just too damn insightful to keep her to myself.

A few weeks back, I came home to the cutest little succulent sitting by my front door with a note attached. Mati had sent me the succulent because I had just lost a pet of mine. It immediately made me cry and it made me think how great of a friend she was to me. Instantly, I knew I wanted to feature her on my blog again. Read below to see how to be a good person!

What do you think it means to be a good person?

This question had me thinking for a few days, and for awhile I found it really difficult to answer because there are lots of ways to be a good person and anyone can be one. I finally put my finger on it and I came up with one word – acceptance. Accepting people for who they are and for who they want to be. We have all met a ton of people up to this point in our lives and there will be a ton more. I have learned that the more you are willing to accept people for their weird (or not weird) quirks, the more people are going to feel comfortable around you. Being a good person can include holding doors and paying for the coffee for the person in line behind you, and those are the types of things I think we can all agree on that we do everyday. But being mindful of how you make a person feel when they are around you, to me, is part of the package as well. With that said, I will go on to quote the most infamous sayings I’m sure everyone knows but it is so extremely true – “People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel.” -Maya Angelou

What actions do you do every single day to be a good friend, daughter, sister, aunt, and significant other?

I will be the first to admit – I am not a talker on the phoner. I am more of the type to just wanna hang out and talk to your face. But, I do make a point to call or text frequently. It’s not as frequent as I’d like, but life is busy. At this time in our lives the only way relationships are going to thrive is if you put a little time into them. Communication is key in any relationship. Letting people know you appreciate and value them is so important. I apply those things to all the relationships in my life.

What is one of the most important things to you and why?

It’s hard for me to just name one thing that’s important to me because with it comes a million other things. To sum it all up into one word I guess it would be “life” (lame, right?)
My family, my boyfriend, my friends, my new job I got that totally rocks, my love for music.. the limit does not exist ( 😉 ). Everything that makes up my life is important to me because it’s what gets me excited everyday.

What would you suggest to people who struggle with maintaining happy and healthy relationships with the people in their life?

Like I said before, communication is key. No one can know how you feel unless you tell them. It’s a hard step to make but once you start expressing yourself, you’ll see a lot of things start looking up. Whether things change in the relationship or you figure out what you really want/need, be real with yourself and be real with others. If they aren’t willing to listen to how you feel, I would take that as the first sign that they probably don’t really care. There is a place for communication but there is also a place for walking away. If communication isn’t working, maybe it’s time to take a step back and reevaluate what is best for yourself. The first thought that pops into your head is usually right so don’t second guess it. I’ve learned my lesson a couple of times. In my opinion, communication is the only way something is going to change in a relationship.

If there’s one piece of advice you’d want everyone to hear, what is it and why?

I’m going to sound like a broken record from the last post you did on me but, I said it once and I’ll say it again – LOVE YOURSELF!! It’s one of the best things you can do for you. When I started really loving the person I am, my life did a 180. I finally stopped caring what people thought of me. I started making decisions for me and only me. I used to always do what others wanted me to do (you can still be a nice person and say no). I built more confidence and finally got the guts to take voice lessons and kickboxing. Two things I’ve always wanted to do but I was too worried about what others thought. I met the love of my life and some more awesome friends, because I stopped being what I thought I should be and started being me. Everyone is dope, you’ve just got to find your dope-ness and run with it. Start loving yourself.

“You’ve just got to find your dope-ness and run with it.”

Like how COULD I NOT share Mati with you?? She’s one of a kind, and truly knows how to be inspiring.

I hope you enjoyed her answers as much as I did!
