Skincare Routine BC Your Skin is EVERYTHING

Hi, how’s your week going!? I’m currently on a plane on my way to MN, so my week is going pretty well! I can’t wait to see those pups of mine.

I get a lot of questions about my skincare routine, so I wanted to do an updated skincare routine post. You might have read this one when I posted it last year.

To begin, what works for me might not work for you. Hell, sometimes what works for me doesn’t always work for me, as disappointing as that is. Also, everyone’s skin is different. Be in tune with your body and listen to your body, it will tell you in some way shape or form what it’s craving.

Diet

For me, when I eat too much sugar or dairy, I start to break out. I just started realizing this within the past few months. If I cut down on my dairy intake, especially cheese, my face seems to clear up. Right now, I’m seriously breaking out bad but I 100% believe it’s from eating so much cheese within the past three days, which is extremely annoying because I am a sucker for cheese, but breaking out is even more annoying. As for sugar, especially processed sugar, that’s just bad for your body and your skin (so is dairy but it isn’t AS bad). Processed sugar also makes you feel bloated, lethargic, and just straight up gross. Cut processed sugar out of your diet as much as you can, and you’ll start to see a huge difference all around.

Water, water, WATER. Drink your water. Water is very hydrating, and when you’re hydrated, your skin is hydrated. Also, the more water you drink, the more you pee. The more your pee, the faster you rid your body of toxins. Toxins inside the body cause breakouts, so DRINK YOUR WATER.

Stress

I NEVER broke out when I was in high school. I’d get an occasional zit here and there but now I feel like my skin has gotten worse, which leads me to stress. Stress has a huge impact on your skin. When I’m stressed, I rub my hands up and down my face or I’ll pick at my face. Oily hands means a face full of zits. & I don’t even need to be in front of a mirror when I pick. I’ll literally just be sitting down at my desk, working on my laptop, and running my hands along my face. Anytime I feel the smallest bump, I’ll pick at it. Before I know it, I’ve picked my entire face off.

Let’s be real, college is stressful. High school was not stressful, no matter how many tweets I made in high school acting like I was so stressed that I’d explode, LOL. Now watch, five years from now I’ll be in the real world and I’ll laugh at myself for always saying how stressful college is, HA.

How I relieve stress other than picking at my face: take a break and read a book, go for a run/walk, hit the gym, or meditate.

Morning Routine

My skincare routine is super easy and non-expensive.

In the mornings, I take one of my HUM tablets, which is for detoxifying your skin and body from the inside out.  This little tablet has worked wonders on my skin, and it’s all because of the ingredients that the tablets are made up of. It seriously has helped clear up my complexion like crazy. Next, I use a gentle, all-natural cleanser to wash my face, and an all-natural moisturizer or sunscreen to moisturize. I get my moisturizer and sunscreen from Trader Joe’s!

♥ All of the products I use are chemical free, cruelty free, free of paragons, free of synthetic fragrances, and vegan ♥

 Nighttime Routine

Before I go to bed, if I’m wearing makeup, I remove my make up with Vitamin E Oil or Grapeseed Oil. Next, I wash my face with an all-natural scrub, and moisturize with Vitamin E Oil. Yes, I literally use oil right before I go to bed because it moisturizers the hell of out of my face. You can opt for Coconut Oil, too. Lately, I’ve been using my gentle cleanser with a handful of Epsom Salt to wash my face. The Epsom Salt is all-natural and free of harsh chemicals. It also scrubs the crab out of my face, so I feel like my face is getting a really great clean and removing all of the dead skin.

Extras

Every now and then, I use Tea Tree Oil on a zit, but it’s super strong so you don’t need a lot. Lavender Oil is a great oil to use, too!

I also use Lavender Body Oil almost every night on my neck. Of course, it’s super moisturizing and it also helps me sleep better because it’s lavender. & I use the Lavender Body Oil on my chest to rid any small bumps or zits.

I use an ice roller at night to help with any inflamed zits I have. I also just love the feeling of it tightening my face up. I’ll do a full post on the ice roller soon so you can see all of the benefits it has! The other little handy-dandy tool I use before bed is the Jade Roller. This little dude promotes skin elasticity and blood circulation, so it’s pretty much amazing!

Lastly, I use Rose Water anytime during the day! It’s super refreshing, so it’s perfect to use in the morning. It also is a great setting spray when you’re finished with your make up. & it’s a great light weight moisturizer to use before bed!

There you have it, my skincare routine!

Remember, what works for me may not work for you. But what works for EVERYONE is drinking a lot of water, minimizing your sugar intake, using products that are free of harsh chemicals, remembering to take a break and relax, and to use oils because oils are the bomb dot com, it doesn’t matter who you are!

Buh-bye until next time!
