Summer Series – Part I

Hi, hello, happy Tuesday! The weather has officially started to feel like summer. We’ve been a lot rainier this time of year than usual, but I welcome the rain. More rain = more moisture, which lessons the chance of having drastic fires this summer. Colorado is so dry so the rain has been a nice change of pace. Plus the trees, grass, plants, and rivers are thriving. Everything is so beautifully green & I absolutely love it.

Spring had been alive and well since March, and now the summer season is officially here! Which makes it the perfect time to share my four part summer series. I made these lists during the spring season but did the same type of deep clean and organization just last week. So we’re going to call these the summer series since it’s now summer!

With every changing season, I love to do a deep clean on my home. This includes cleaning out clothes, washing couch pillows, organizing the pantry, cleaning out the porch closet- the works. It’s like a new season brings about a fresh new mindset, which makes me want my home to feel fresh too!

The Set-Up

Before I go in on what the decluttering part is, I want to mention that I create these lists out on a piece of paper. I write with colorful gel pens that remind me of the season I’m in. The pens are important, like the most important park. I linked my exact ones I use in the previous sentence!

Picture this: it’s 7:30 am, I have completed my morning ritual, the cats have full bellies, Zach is still snoozing, the dishes are put away and chores have been completed. I’m sitting at my desk with my coffee in hand, ready to tackle these lists. *Perfection*

There’s just something about getting all of the external things in order so I can then get the internal things organized. If this makes sense to you or resonates with you in anyway, let me know! Meeting likeminded people is fun.

I separated this list out by the rooms in my home to keep everything streamlined and simple. By creating that separation, I refrain from becoming overwhelmed with the tasks at hand because I can say to myself – “Okay, the kitchen will be tackled Saturday afternoon and the bedrooms completed Sunday afternoon,” and so on.

Now Onto The Fun Part: The Decluttering List

Kitchen – *Tupperware *Pots & pans *Cooking sheets *Mason jars & bottles *Pantry *Refrigerator *Cabinet above the fridge

Aden’s Room – *Nightstand *Both dressers *Shelving on top of the dresser *Bathroom cabinet *Closet *Bookshelf *Container in closet *The boy’s (Loki & Ares) container *Under Aden’s bed

Our Bedroom & Bathroom *Both of my dressers *Bookshelf *Both of our nightstands *Both of our bed drawers *Closet *Bags & suitcases in closet *Slippers & swimsuit containers *Zach’s dressers *Bathroom cabinets & drawers

Laundry Room – *Shelves in the laundry room *Both shoe racks

You can draft up this list dependent on the way your home is set up. Leave out anything you don’t wish to declutter or add anything you think needs some organization. For example, maybe the shelving in your shower feels cluttered or perhaps you have a basement that needs a good clean out!

We’re in a two-bedroom & two-bathroom apartment so I created this list with keeping in mind that I only have two bedrooms to go through, whereas some people have four bedrooms or more. If this feels overwhelming, I would create a decluttering list for each bedroom or area, rather than the whole house. And then tackle that bedroom as you see fit.

There you have it- my fist part of the summer series and how to organize the f out of your home. Lol! Keep a look out for part II of the summer series that will be posted later this week! & I hope you’re all having a rad Monday.

If you want to enjoy a spicy Bloody Mary while decluttering your home to take the edge off, you can find my GO-TO recipe here. Thank me later!
